Resident Evil 5 Remake Is Still a Long Way Away

Following the success of the Resident Evil 4 Remake, fans of the series naturally turned their attention to the announcement of the Resident Evil 5 Remake. However, renowned source Dusk Golem has shared new information that undermines expectations. It’s claimed that Capcom is not currently working on this project and, in fact, has shown little interest in a Resident Evil 5 remake in the near future.

Capcom’s Plans for Resident Evil Zero and Code: Veronica

According to Dusk Golem’s posts on X (Twitter), Capcom’s next remake projects will be Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Code: Veronica. According to insider information, the Zero Remake won’t be released until 2027, meaning a potential Resident Evil 5 Remake could be on the cards in the 2030s at the earliest.

Capcom’s current lack of priority on RE5 is attributed to the company’s desire to create a more cohesive narrative chronology for the series. With the remakes of Zero and Code: Veronica, Albert Wesker’s role will be expanded, thus establishing a stronger narrative foundation for the events leading up to the fifth installment. This strategy could pave the way for a RE5 remake in the future.

Dusk Golem states, “Capcom isn’t actively working on this project right now, but they see it as an inevitable possibility in the long run.” He also notes that Code: Veronica Remake will see players see the “Remake Chris” character for the first time, which will boost excitement for future installments in the series.

While no official statement has yet been released from Capcom, the source has previously shared accurate information about the Resident Evil 4 Remake development. Therefore, the claims appear quite credible. The company’s current focus on RE Zero and Veronica suggests that the fifth installment won’t be on the agenda for a long time.

Resident Evil 5, released in 2009, was one of the most controversial games in the series due to its action-focused nature. Despite this widespread acclaim, the co-op system has earned a special place in the memories of many gamers. It appears Capcom is aiming to return to the series’ roots and fill in the gaps in the story before reviving this classic.
