Skull and Bones Has Fewer Players Than Black Flag
Ubisoft’s long-awaited pirate adventure Skull and Bones has failed to catch the wind on Steam. The number of players is only hovering around 400.
Skull and Bones Fails to Make the Expected Rise
After 11 years of grueling development, Skull and Bones launched on Steam on August 22nd, but didn’t make the splash Ubisoft had hoped for. The move away from Ubisoft Connect and onto Steam was seen as a good move to attract PC gamers. But it only reached 394 concurrent players on launch day. The next day, that number rose to 432, but it still lagged far behind competitors like Sea of Thieves. For comparison, rival Sea of Thieves currently has 5,667 concurrent players.
It gets even more ironic because Skull and Bones has even lower player numbers than another of its inspirations, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Black Flag. Despite being an 11-year-old game, Black Flag reached 758 concurrent players in the last 24 hours, a hundred players more than Skull and Bones.
Skull and Bones was a big disappointment for Ubisoft with its low player count on Steam.
