Space Marine 2 Won’t Have a Harder Mode, Here’s Why!
Space Marine 2, which is set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe and has attracted great interest from players, has come out with a new difficulty level called Absolute. However, some players stated that this level was not challenging enough and requested an even harder mode. In response to these requests, the Saber Interactive team stated that the Absolute level was on the border.
Modifications Instead of More Difficulty Coming to Space Marine 2
Game director Dmitriy Grigorenko expressed that developer Saber Interactive was generally pleased with the Absolute difficulty level. Grigorenko stated that this level required great attention and intense concentration throughout the game, but that some players still thought it was “easy.”
According to Grigorenko, the Absolute difficulty level has a win rate of around 60%, which is 10% higher than expected. However, it has been reported that only experienced players can reach this level, and only 12% of players spend their daily play time in Absolute mode. Therefore, he stated that creating a harder mode does not make sense in terms of resource allocation.
Grigorenko said that adding difficulty beyond the Absolute level could create problems in terms of performance and game balance. He stated that adding stronger enemies could cause random deaths and reduce the fun of the game by making enemies “bullet sponges.” He also noted that adding a new difficulty level could split the multiplayer matchmaking pool.
Instead, the Saber Interactive team plans to introduce a new modification system to the game. This system aims to make the challenges in the game more diverse and unique. For example, options such as ammo limitations or stronger enemy types could be added. It was announced that these modifications are in development and will be shaped according to player feedback.
Space Marine 2 continues to offer players different experiences with six available difficulty levels. The development team emphasizes that they have taken into account the demands of the player community, but have taken careful steps to ensure a balanced gaming experience.
