Steam Deck Becomes a Beast with RTX 4090

While the Steam Deck is a notable portable gaming experience, it can’t compete with desktop computers in terms of hardware power. However, a modder named Qinyen DIY has surpassed these limitations, creating a truly desktop-like system in handheld console form. A video shared on the China-based platform Bilibili showcases the project’s power.

Portable Gaming Monster Powered by an RTX 4090

Qinyen DIY has integrated an RTX 4090 laptop graphics card into a custom handheld chassis with a 12.5-inch screen. The controllers positioned on the sides of the device give it a portable console-like appearance. However, the internal components are comparable to those of a high-end gaming PC.

The system is equipped with a Core i9-14900HX processor, 64GB of DDR5 RAM, and 2TB of storage. Built on a Tongfang chassis, the device maintains temperature control even during demanding games thanks to its powerful cooling system. The GPU temperature hovers around 72°C, ensuring stable performance even under intense load.

In shared test footage, Cyberpunk 2077 ran smoothly at 60 FPS at 4K resolution, while God of War managed to exceed 100 FPS. These results prove that the device is not only portable but also capable of competing with high-end desktop systems.

While impressive in terms of performance, the device’s size and weight may pose practicality issues for extended handheld use. Nevertheless, seeing the power of the RTX 4090 in a portable form factor offers an exciting experience for gaming enthusiasts.
