Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, one of the popular series in the Star Trek universe, is preparing to return with its third season. The first trailer for the new season, which will be released on July 17 on Paramount Plus, has been shared. In the short but striking trailer, it is signaled that Captain Pike will hand over his seat to James T. Kirk.

In the trailer, Captain Christopher Pike is seen turning to Kirk, saying, “The decisions you make in this seat are yours alone.” This scene indicates that William Shatner’s iconic James T. Kirk character will now take on a more important role in the series. Kirk, played by Paul Wesley, has been on the series since the first season and was seen as the captain of the Enterprise in an alternate timeline in the second season.
Kirk taking the captain’s seat in the new season suggests that the character could join the main cast in season four. The series also stars Ethan Peck (Spock), Jess Bush (Christine Chapel), Christina Chong (La’An Noonien-Singh), Celia Rose Gooding (Nyota Uhura), Melissa Navia (Erica Ortegas) and Rebecca Romijn (Una Chin-Riley).
With a high “Fresh” score of 98% on Rotten Tomatoes, Strange New Worlds has become the highest-rated production in the Star Trek universe to date. The new season promises even greater adventures while preserving the spirit of classic science fiction.
