Switch 2 Sets All-Time Record
Nintendo’s long-awaited next-generation console, the Switch 2, has been met with great interest since its first day of release. Despite some technical issues and occasional stock shortages, sales of the device are continuing unabated. According to new reports, the Switch 2 reached millions of users in just 24 hours.
Switch 2 Sales Break Record After Record
According to Nintendo Prime’s Paul Gale, more than 3 million Switch 2s were sold in the first 24 hours alone. This figure indicates a level that no device in the history of the game console has ever reached. In comparison, the PlayStation 4 sold only 1 million units in the same period, and its total sales record for the two months to date is around 4.5 million.
This size of sales stands out as the fastest start in console history. If sales continue throughout the week, Nintendo is expected to surpass this record very soon. It seems unlikely that the device will achieve more success than its first generation.
Moreover, all this success came despite some Switch 2 devices being the subject of production errors. Some reports from users indicated that there were problems with the Joy-Con 2 controllers and some devices had to be replaced. However, this situation did not stop sales, let alone reduce users’ interest in the console. Thanks to Nintendo’s extensive stock preparation and worldwide reach, sales continue unabated.
