Prime Video’s blockbuster series, The Boys, is preparing to bid farewell to its fifth season. The series, which premiered in 2019 and quickly gained a loyal following, offered a unique take on the superhero theme despite being a comic book adaptation. Antony Starr, who plays Homelander, confirmed the news of the finale on social media, thanking both the production team and the audience.
An Emotional Farewell from The Boys Starr
Starr shared a lengthy thank-you message on Instagram, accompanied by set photos and character stills. The actor emphasized that The Boys was a pivotal moment in his career and expressed his gratitude to both his castmates and the Amazon and Sony teams. He noted that the series remained strong despite facing challenging times such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 Hollywood strikes.
Starr emphasized the creative scope offered by the role of Homelander, saying that the role allowed her to push her boundaries and experience unexpected experiences. Describing the character as “complex” and “deep,” the actor added that he greatly enjoyed portraying him and will miss him. Starr also sent a special thank you to series creator Eric Kripke, calling him “Homelander’s co-parent.”
Noting that filming for the fifth season wrapped in June 2025, Starr said she believes the final season will be a satisfying conclusion for viewers. While details haven’t been released, it’s anticipated that the characters’ stories will be tied up in a major way in the final season.
The fifth and final season of The Boys is expected to premiere on Prime Video in 2026. Fans are already eager to see the final adventures of both Homelander and the other characters.
