The Next-Gen Xbox Will Be Very Premium

The Xbox landscape has been fraught with uncertainty lately. While a clear picture of next-generation plans remains elusive, the first hint about the company’s new console came from Xbox President Sarah Bond. With rumors of PlayStation launching in 2027, all eyes are on the Xbox, and Bond’s statements suggest the direction the new console will take.

Xbox’s New Console Will Offer a Premium Hybrid Experience

In an interview with Mashable, Bond didn’t provide many details about the next-generation Xbox, but she made a striking statement:

“The next-generation console will be a very premium, high-quality, and meticulously designed experience.”

This statement demonstrates that Xbox is using the word “premium” not just as a marketing term, but as a vision supported by high hardware power and price. This statement also makes more sense of Xbox’s long-rumored plans for an Xbox/PC hybrid system. It’s believed that the ROG Xbox Ally handheld console will expand on the new console.

According to industry sources, the new console is expected to come with high-priced but powerful hardware. Insider “Moore’s Law Is Dead” suggests that Xbox is working on a system that’s more powerful but also more expensive than its rival, the PlayStation 6. This suggests that Microsoft could be shifting away from the traditional console market and toward a PC-focused hybrid platform.

However, this strategy could be risky. Xbox has recently raised prices in many areas, from game prices to developer kits. The extent to which the “premium” label will appeal to a wider audience is debatable. However, if a truly ambitious leap forward is made on the technology front, Xbox could reposition itself in both the console and PC worlds.
