The Sims Mobile is Shutting Down Soon

Electronic Arts has announced the end of the road for The Sims Mobile, a life simulation experience offered on mobile platforms since 2018. The company announced that the game will be permanently shut down on January 20, 2026, and online support will be completely discontinued. Real-money purchases will be disabled as of October 20, while players will be able to spend their existing SimCash, Simoleons, and tickets before the servers shut down.

The Sims Mobile Will Say Goodbye with Gifts

According to EA’s official announcement, The Sims Mobile will no longer be available for download on the App Store and Google Play. However, existing players will be able to continue playing the game until January 20, 2026. The company also announced that all “Build Mode” and “Create-A-Sim” items will be automatically unlocked for all accounts as of January 6, 2026. This decision will allow players to finally experience the decorative items and character customization options they’ve struggled to access through restricted content for years.

The Sims Mobile is Shutting Down Soon

EA stated that no refunds will be issued following the closure, and that unused premium currency cannot be transferred to other games. The company urged players to “spend any remaining balance and enjoy the game until its final days.”

The Sims Mobile has been particularly popular among mobile gamers since its launch in 2018. Its short gameplay cycles, focused on home building, decorating, and character interactions, made it a “pocket-sized” alternative to The Sims 4. Over the years, it has cultivated an active community with regular events, seasonal quests, and social features.

However, recently, EA has begun to divert its resources to The Sims 4 and its next-generation project, Project Rene, which is currently in development. This suggests that The Sims Mobile is no longer a “priority project.” According to The Verge, this decision is part of a trend in the gaming industry where older live-service games are shutting down and making way for new projects.

The news generated a significant wave of nostalgia and sadness within the community. Many players have stated that The Sims Mobile has brought new fans to the series and offered a unique mobile experience. EA emphasized that the game will remain available until the final days, and all players will have unlimited access to the content.

When the shutdown date arrives, The Sims Mobile will be completely offline, and all progress will be deleted. However, The Sims world will continue with Project Rene and The Sims 4. As the mobile adventure draws to a close, all eyes are now on the future for the series’ next chapter.
