The Story of The Last of Us 2 Has Been Changed
The Last of Us 2, which was released five years ago, still manages to stay on the agenda with its story that divides players in two. The production developed by Naughty Dog has attracted attention again with its latest update. This surprise update, which offers the opportunity to play the story in a different order from beginning to end, completely changes the narrative style of the game.
Chronological Narrative Period in The Last of Us 2
According to Naughty Dog’s announcement, players will now be able to play the story in linear, chronological order. Thanks to this mode, important events such as Ellie receiving a guitar as a gift are presented one after the other with the learning process. Players will be able to see much more clearly how Ellie and Abby’s journeys in Seattle progress parallel to each other.
The new mode starts the story with Abby’s past and includes the events towards the end of the first game, moving on to Ellie’s memories. This structure offers a few hours of gameplay before reaching the Jackson section of the game. In this way, the characters’ effects and encounters in the story are conveyed more strongly.
This mode can only be used in The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered version, which is available on PS5 and PC. PS4 users cannot access this content. Naughty Dog also added special trophies for those who complete the game with this mode and Nathan and Sam Drake costumes that can be used in No Return mode.
It remains unclear whether The Last of Us 3 will be released. Naughty Dog is currently focused on the science fiction project called Intergalactic. However, with this update, The Last of Us 2 has once again shown how strong an impact the series still has.
