The Controversy About GTA 6 Release Date
The first released trailer for GTA 6 confirmed that the game features a female protagonist named Lucia and that the game takes place in Rockstar’s version of Florida, Vice City included. It’s been over a year since the first GTA 6 trailer broke the internet, with Rockstar keeping quiet about when fans may expect the second trailer to drop.
We still don’t know when GTA 6 trailer 2 will release to the masses. There are many unanswered questions when it comes to GTA 6, chief among them being the game’s release date. Recently, retailer X Uruguay listed a GTA 6 release date of September 17, 2025. A customer support conversation that was shared online showed a claim that the information came from PlayStation, seemingly lending credibility to the release date leak.
However, the retailer has now come out to clarify that it did not receive any information from “any of the brands” about the GTA 6 release date. The retailer claims that it looked up the GTA 6 release date, saw GTA 5 released on September 17 in 2013, and then decided to open pre-orders for that day. The retailer has apologized to fans for listing a fake release date for Grand Theft Auto 6.
September 17, 2025 was never a believable release date for Grand Theft Auto 6 because that day falls on a Wednesday. The vast majority of the time, new video game releases come out on Tuesdays or Fridays, though lately there have been many games dropped on Thursdays instead. Wednesdays, while not entirely unheard of, are very uncommon for video game release dates. That being said, it’s entirely possible that the real GTA 6 release date will mimic Grand Theft Auto 5 and land somewhere in September. The GTA 6 release window is fall 2025, after all.
Time will show when the second GTA 6 trailer will be released but considering Rockstar announced the date as Fall 2025, we can’t be far for second trailer and exact date for the game to drop.
