There’s No Preparations Yet for the New Super Smash Bros.
It is said that there is a bigger plan behind the Kirby Air Riders announcement that excited Nintendo fans. This move made for the return of Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the Super Smash Bros. series, carries important clues about the future of the new Smash Bros. game. However, the claims that came show that the new game has not even entered the preparation phase yet.
Super Smash Bros. Switch 2 Game May Be Waited for a Long Time
Masahiro Sakurai’s fatigue and health problems during the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate process created questions about whether he would take part in new projects. He had stated that he had to work with serum and fainted in the gym while preparing the previous games. All these events constituted a serious obstacle to his return for the new Smash Bros.
Allegedly, Nintendo launched the Kirby Air Riders project in order to convince Sakurai. According to podcaster Kiwi Talkz, this game was Sakurai’s “passion project” and it was thanks to this project that he agreed to work again for Smash Bros. It is also among the information conveyed that Sakurai has been working on the series non-stop since 2012 and is now experiencing burnout.
Kiwi Talkz claimed that the development process of the new Smash Bros. game has not yet begun. Considering that Sakurai plays a key role especially in the licensing processes of third-party characters, it is stated that it is difficult to make major progress without his approval and participation. For this reason, it is suggested that Bandai Namco is not even in a possible preliminary preparation stage.
Finally, although the information that Kirby Air Riders is indeed part of a negotiation process has been confirmed, the claims made for Smash Bros. are still at the level of speculation. However, Sakurai’s return to the series is of great importance, so it seems like it may take some time for the new game to be finalized.
