Thousands of Black Ops 6 Players Banned

Activision has responded to concerns about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Sequential playlist, specifically the work being done to curb cheaters. The company says it has banned thousands of players and continues to ban more every hour. But some famous streamers have spoken out against these statements to voice their ongoing concerns.

Black Ops 6’s Ricochet Anti-Cheat System and Bans

According to Activision, the AI-powered systems in Call of Duty’s Ricochet anti-cheat technology “continue to move forward with code optimizations” to “accelerate enforcement” against malicious players. Since the sequential game mode launched last week, Activision has banned more than 19,000 people, and Ricochet is conducting “hourly scans” to take more cheaters out of the game.

Activision has always said that the fight against cheaters is an ongoing battle and may not be completely resolved. Famous streamer Nadeshot responded to this statement by saying that “from his point of view, this is pure propaganda”. Another famous streamer, Westie, said that Activision’s Ricochet updates are ineffective and “make zero difference to the gameplay experience.” He also said that cheating continues to be a problem in Warzone.

Another issue raised by Call of Duty fans is that the console’s Sequential mode forces players to cross-platform play, causing them to be matched up with PC players. The mouse and keyboard setup is considered to be the most sensitive way to play an FPS game like Call of Duty. On console, people using controllers have concerns about a “fair playing field” when playing against people using a mouse and keyboard. There’s also the issue that it’s often easier to install cheating software on PC than on console.
