Titanfall Developer Cancels Unannounced Game
Respawn Entertainment is a studio that has made a name for itself with popular games like Titanfall and Apex Legends. However, some news has come that will upset its fans. The studio has canceled an unannounced multiplayer FPS project that was hiring last year. This development draws attention as the second cancellation decision after The Mandalorian-themed Star Wars FPS project that was canceled last year.
Why Was the Unannounced FPS Project Canceled?
There is very little information about this canceled project from Respawn Entertainment. The first information about the project emerged in May 2024 with an advertisement that the studio was looking for a game design director who specializes in multiplayer FPS experiences. However, the theme or details of the game were not shared with the public.
“An unannounced project I was working on last year was canceled this week,” former Respawn employee Emilee Evans wrote on LinkedIn. This statement reveals that the project was canceled less than a year later.
Some fans think that the canceled project may have been in the Titanfall universe. One reliable source, Jeff Grubb, previously stated that Respawn was working on a game set in the Titanfall universe, but that it was not directly Titanfall 3. However, this speculation has not yet been confirmed.
Despite the canceled projects, Respawn Entertainment continues to actively produce new content. In addition to regularly releasing new updates for Apex Legends, the studio is working on a Star Wars strategy game and a brand new original IP led by Steve Fukuda. It is also working on the final installment of the Star Wars Jedi series.
While the cancellations may have been disappointing for fans, Respawn’s other projects are eagerly awaited. Titanfall fans in particular are holding out hope for a new announcement about the future of the series.
