Toy Story 5: Woody and Buzz Renewed
Disney is returning to its classic franchises to address its recent box office declines. Toy Story 5 is set to release in summer 2026. The new film will focus on a completely different story, where toys compete with technology. Familiar yet refreshed characters are returning for fans of the series.
Toy Story 5 Brings Back Old Heroes with New Faces
A new promotional poster has revealed updated designs for Woody and Buzz Lightyear. While the characters may appear familiar at first glance, the details are noticeable. Woody’s sheriff’s badge is gone; he’s passed it on to Jessie. Buzz, meanwhile, sports a new star emblem, suggesting he may play a “deputy sheriff” in the new film.
In the fifth film of the series, the story begins with Jessie leading Bonnie’s room. However, when a frog-like tablet called “Lilypad” challenges the toys, Woody returns to the scene. Furthermore, 50 Buzz Lightyear figures “stuck in play mode” will cause major chaos for our heroes.
Toy Story 5 is written and directed by Andrew Stanton. The voice cast includes Tom Hanks (Woody), Tim Allen (Buzz), Joan Cusack (Jessie), and Anna Faris (Lilypad). Tim Allen states that the new film has a “very cleverly written” story and that Buzz will show a completely different side this time.
The film is scheduled for release on June 19, 2026. Pixar aims to take the series back to the top with this new adventure, which touches on both nostalgic and modern themes. Fans are already eager to see what journey Woody and Buzz will embark on in this new era.
