Where Winds Meet Will Be Exclusive to PlayStation
Where Winds Meet, signed by Chinese developer Everstone Studio, revealed both its atmosphere and release strategy with the new CGI trailer released today. No exact date was given at the end of the trailer, but it was confirmed that the game will be released in 2025 and will be exclusive to PS5 on the console side.
Where Winds Meet Will Remain Exclusive to PS5 in the First Phase
The small text in the trailer emphasized that the game “will not be available on other consoles for at least six months from the release date.” This statement was previously seen in some PS5 exclusive games such as Final Fantasy 16. The fact that the game will be playable only on PS5, PC and mobile devices with its release shows that PlayStation is strengthening its cooperation with Chinese developers.
Where Winds Meet is introduced as an open-world action-RPG set in the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period of Chinese history. Its fighting mechanics and visuals are inspired by classic Wuxia fantasy. The game’s developers state that they want to introduce this genre to Western players. Other PS5 exclusives from China include Lost Soul Aside and Phantom Blade Zero.
The final closed beta test of Where Winds Meet will take place worldwide on PS5 and PC platforms on July 25. The registration process has already started. In this test, in addition to the regions included in previous trials, the urban area called Kaifeng will be made available to players.
Recently, the interest of China-based game studios in the console market has increased. In particular, the success of Black Myth: Wukong on PS5 accelerated this trend. Other Chinese action-RPG games to be released for PC, PS5 and Xbox in the coming period include Wuchang: Fallen Feathers and Tides of Annihilation, which is themed around the Arthurian legend set in London.
