Why Is Gears of War: Reloaded Not Available on PS5 in Japan?
As Gears of War: Reloaded approaches its global release, there has been a disappointing development for PS5 users in Japan. It has been announced that Gears of War: Reloaded will not be released on PS5 in this region, and there are some notable restrictions behind this decision.
Why Did Gears of War: Reloaded Not Get a PS5 Release in Japan?
The main reason why the PS5 release in Japan was canceled was that it did not meet local rating rules. In particular, the blood, intense violence, and graphic narratives it contained did not comply with the country’s age restriction rules. This prevented the game from being officially released on the relevant platform.
Gears of War: Reloaded will therefore only be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Steam in Japan. This restriction only affects one platform, while there are no restrictions for other users. However, PS5 users will be locked out of the experience on August 27, 2025, the game’s release day.
There will be two separate beta tests focused on multiplayer content ahead of the game’s release. The first test will run from June 13-15, offering players the classic Team Deathmatch mode and three different maps. The second test will run from June 20-22, introducing new modes and additional maps.
The first test will feature the Gridlock, Raven Down, and Gold Rush maps, while the second weekend test will feature King of the Hill mode on the Canals map. Courtyard and War Machine maps will also be added to the Deathmatch mode. However, all of these stages will only be accessible to players on supported platforms.
