Will Judas Have Microtransactions?
Judas, the new game from legendary BioShock series author Ken Levine, has been in development for a long time. The release model for the game, which stands out with its storytelling, was a matter of curiosity. Levine’s recent statements have clarified this matter and delighted single-player game enthusiasts.
Judas Will Not Contain Microtransactions
In an interview with Nightdive Studios’ YouTube channel, Ken Levine said of Judas, “You buy the game and you own it completely.” The game will have neither an online component nor a live service model. According to Levine, the entire gaming experience is designed with a single goal: to immerse the player in the story and immerse them in the atmosphere.
This statement is striking for gamers accustomed to many games released today coming with DLC, roadmaps, and microtransactions. Levine also stated that this approach isn’t a criticism of other developers. “Making games is expensive,” he said, “so I respect developers who choose this path,” demonstrating an understanding stance on the industry.
He also cited games like The Witcher 3, Cyberpunk 2077, Baldur’s Gate 3, and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, emphasizing that these titles have succeeded by maintaining their traditional single-player structure. He believes players are rewarding this approach.
Judas, expected to release in 2025, is facing new delays every month, but Levine’s vision is promising for many gamers. The promise of a story-driven, simple, and complete single-player experience is one of the biggest reasons for the game’s high anticipation.
