Will Rosalina Be Playable in Super Mario Bros. Wonder?
The trailer for Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park, unveiled during the Nintendo Direct, allegedly featured Rosalina in a brief scene. Screenshots shared on Reddit and Twitter suggest Rosalina is listed alongside Yoshi and other characters. This has led to strong speculation among players that the character will be playable in the new version.
Rosalina’s Role Sparks Controversy
Rosalina has been a prominent figure in the Super Mario Galaxy games. Her popularity is growing, even with her own storybooks and a prominent role in the upcoming film. Many fans have long questioned why she wasn’t playable in the original Super Mario Bros. Wonder. The Switch 2 version may address this omission.
Although the trailer’s images are presented as “evidence,” some fans believe Rosalina may only appear as a background character or a guest NPC. The trailer’s inclusion of non-playable characters like Boo, in particular, casts doubt on Rosalina’s status. Nintendo’s lack of official word on the matter also maintains the mystery.
Nevertheless, Rosalina’s recent prominence supports the rumors. The remakes of Super Mario Galaxy 1 and 2, the arrival of the Rosalina amiibo, and the preparations for the upcoming Super Mario Galaxy film suggest the character will play a major role in the franchise. In this context, Wonder becoming a playable character in the Switch 2 version seems quite plausible.
While Rosalina’s playability in Super Mario Bros. Wonder remains to be seen, Nintendo’s recent moves are raising expectations. Fans are eagerly awaiting the chance to control Rosalina in the new installment. If these claims prove true, Mario’s 40th anniversary could be a historic turning point for Rosalina as well.
