Xbox Is Hiking Console Prices Again

The gradual rise in console prices is no longer surprising to gamers. The situation is no different for Xbox. Microsoft has announced a new pricing update for the Xbox Series X and Series S models. While this change only applies to the US, it appears it will have implications for global markets. This price hike, especially ahead of the upcoming holiday season, may cause many gamers to reconsider their console plans.

New Prices for Xbox Series X and S

According to information shared on Microsoft’s official support page, prices for the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles will increase as of October 3, 2025. The 512GB Xbox Series S model will increase from $379 to $399, and the 1TB model will increase from $429 to $449. For the Xbox Series X, the digital version will increase from $549 to $599, and the disc version will increase from $599 to $649. The specially released Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition will increase from $729 to $799.

Xbox Is Hiking Console Prices Again

The main reason for this price change is cited as the ongoing tariffs between the US and China. These tariffs, a reflection of Trump-era policies, are directly impacting the gaming industry. Sony and Nintendo previously raised the prices of their PlayStation 5 and Switch consoles for similar reasons. Microsoft’s move is being interpreted as an inevitable development.

Because the new prices were announced specifically before the holiday season, users who want to buy consoles should speed up their decisions. Users only have two weeks to avoid the price increase. However, it has been announced that the increases will only affect console sales, with no changes to controller and accessory prices. While this may slow console sales, it is considered a move to protect Microsoft’s ecosystem.

The price increase raises curiosity about how it will affect Xbox sales during the holiday season. The price of the ROG Xbox Ally handheld console series, which will be released on October 16th in partnership with ASUS, has still not been announced. Rising console prices could lead gamers to turn to more affordable alternatives. However, Microsoft’s focus isn’t just on hardware; Continuing to offer “value” to players through services like Game Pass, which could offset the company’s high pricing policy to some extent.
