You Can Ignore Other Heroes in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Ubisoft has shared an important detail about its new game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which will be released on March 20, 2025. The game progresses with two main heroes: Naoe, who is stealthy, and Yasuke, who has a more aggressive play style. Players can choose to focus on one of these two characters and experience a large part of the story only with this character. The development team stated that both characters have their own personal quest lines, but the main story is accessible with both heroes.

Two Different Play Styles in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Assassin’s Creed Shadows offers players two different play styles. Naoe represents a stealth-oriented approach that remains true to the roots of the series. This character offers a gameplay that encourages defeating enemies in the shadows and avoiding open conflict. On the other hand, Yasuke has an aggressive play style closer to the games of the series that adopt RPG elements such as Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. With Yasuke, you can attack enemies directly and enter large battles.

Developer Jonathan Dumont noted that players don’t have to split their time equally between the two characters. “No matter which character you choose to play as, the game adapts to that. You can complete a large portion of the game with just one character if you want,” Dumont said.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows is the long-awaited first Japanese-themed game in the Assassin’s Creed series. However, the game has also been dogged by some controversy during its launch. Ubisoft was forced to apologize for some inaccurate depictions of Japan’s history. Additionally, a collectible figure design was criticized as “insensitive” and the game was delayed twice, creating impatience among fans.

Despite all of this controversy, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is highly anticipated by fans of the series. The game, which will be released on March 20, 2025 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, is seen as one of Ubisoft’s most important projects in recent times.
