YouTuber Builds Aluminum Xbox for $6,000

A special project exploring the Xbox brand’s history has become a trending topic in the tech community. Inspired by an old prototype design, a creator has created a unique Xbox model with an aluminum chassis. The project, which combines retro lines with modern touches, has captivated both collectors and hardware enthusiasts. Its reinterpretation while preserving the spirit of the classic design is noteworthy.

A Custom Aluminum Console Project for Xbox Unveiled

The YouTube channel Macho Nacho Productions has created a custom device with an all-aluminum chassis, inspired by the original Xbox prototype. The design is based on a prototype demonstration from the early 2000s. The interior features original Xbox hardware but has been enhanced with various modern components, combining a retro look with contemporary usability.

For the project, the prototype dimensions were meticulously calculated based on the actual model. The creator traveled to New York to examine the museum’s prototype and collected photographic materials. These images were combined with 3D modeling to create the dimensions. The chassis was manufactured from CNC-machined aluminum parts, with custom slots for the internal hardware.

While the device retains its original Xbox hardware, the power supply has been modernized. The power supply has been made external for security reasons. The display output has been modified with HDMI, and the storage has been updated with an SSD. A small LCD is also located in the center of the device. Special software support for the cooling system and fan control has also been implemented, ensuring the classic hardware operates safely and in a modern manner.

The project cost was reported to be approximately $5,622. This figure is significantly lower than the inflation-adjusted production cost of the original prototype. The aluminum parts used and labor costs played a significant role in the project. The device’s functionality, along with its focus on nostalgia and design, makes it a collectible item.
