For those unfamiliar with the project, 007 First Light is being developed by IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman games. IO Interactive’s acclaimed work with Hitman makes the studio a perfect fit for the 007 license, and based on the first trailer, James Bond fans have a lot to look forward to when it comes to the new game.

The latest PlayStation State of Play event included a 007 First Light trailer that showcased the game’s stealth mechanics and explosive action. 007 First Light will be an origin story that shows James Bond’s early days as he works to become a spy. The globe-trotting adventure will include a mix of allies and villains as 26-year-old Bond earns his 00 status. Familiar faces include M, Q, and Moneypenny, and there will also be brand-new characters created for the game. Those interested in 007 First Light can look forward to it launching in 2026 for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X, and the Nintendo Switch 2. But fans don’t have to wait that long to see more of it in action.

007 First Light will be featured at the IO Interactive Showcase on Friday, June 6 at 6pm PT. The event will feature 007 First Light alongside IO’s Hitman and Leslie Benzies’ cinematic action game MindsEye, which IO is publishing. Needless to say, James Bond fans and fans of IO’s work in general should definitely make it a point to tune in to the event on June 6.
