A 10-Year-Old MMORPG Is Shutting Down Forever
Another massively multiplayer role-playing game that has brought players together online for many years is passing away. The MMORPG Skyforge has been announced to be shutting down. While it may not have garnered as much attention as well-known MMORPG giants, Skyforge, which had garnered a loyal player base with its unique blend of science fiction and fantasy, managed to survive for 10 years. However, the rapid changes in the gaming world have caught up with it this time.
Skyforge MMORPG Closure Dates Announced
According to a statement released by the game’s publisher, Innova, Skyforge’s closure will occur in two phases. On the console side, all payment transactions for PlayStation, Nintendo, and Xbox will be disabled on August 4, 2025, and the servers will be completely shut down on October 29, 2025. For PC players, the process will be slightly shorter. As of August 1, 2025, payment systems on Steam and 4game will be disabled, and the servers will be shut down on September 3, 2025.
During this period, the Skyforge team stated that it will continue to support players for the remaining time. Users experiencing technical issues with the game or seeking information about the closure can request assistance through the support channels.
Skyforge was a standout title for its unique perspective on the MMORPG genre. Breaking from classic fantasy universes, the game was set in a universe enriched with science fiction elements and offered players unconventional experiences. With this unique structure, the game managed to capture a significant audience. While overshadowed by its larger competitors, it was supported by a loyal community for years.
While the end of such long-running projects is not uncommon in the gaming world, it always carries a bittersweet note. Skyforge is now preparing to bid farewell to its players. However, the friendships and memories formed during this time will live on in players’ memories.
