A Brand New Game Is Coming From the Creator of Silent Hill
Keiichiro Toyama, a prominent figure in the horror genre, announced the start of a new game project following Slitterhead. Toyama, who entered the industry with Hideo Kojima’s Snatcher in 1994, continues to shape his career with Silent Hill and subsequent productions in various genres.
A New Game on the Way from Silent Hill Creator
Speaking to Famitsu in Japan during the Slitterhead art installation, Keiichiro Toyama announced the start of development on his new project. However, details about the game have not yet been released. Toyama also stated that the new game will not be a sequel to Slitterhead. He emphasized that Slitterhead was not initially conceived with a sequel in mind and that the new project aims to have a different vision.
Despite being at the helm of his studio, Toyama, mindful of the limitations imposed by his age, stated that he intended to hand over his duties to a new generation of developers after completing the project. This statement raises the possibility that Toyama’s new project could be a finale for his career.
Toyama stated that the new game is still in its “early stages,” and that more information will be released later. The statements indicate that the project will be multifaceted and perhaps incorporate the ideas of younger developers. It also states that the studio does not intend to limit itself to dark and horror-themed productions.
Toyama, known for his work on the Siren series, Blood Curse, Gravity Rush, and its sequels, in addition to Silent Hill, is eagerly awaited by the gaming world. Players will be closely watching to see how he will incorporate the distinct narrative style and horror approach emphasized in Slitterhead into the new game.
