A Mad Max TV Series Could Be On The Way

The Mad Max series has been known for years as one of the most powerful symbols of post-apocalyptic cinema. However, after Furiosa failed to meet box office expectations, questions remained about the franchise’s future. Now, a new rumor has rekindled fans’ hopes.

Mad Max Series “The Wasteland” Details

The podcast Mad Max Bible has claimed that director George Miller is working on a TV series called The Wasteland. The series will reportedly take place before Fury Road and explore Max’s journey to build his new Interceptor. Characters such as Chumbucket and Scrotus are also rumored to be involved in the story. While Miller is reportedly not directing the project, it is suggested that the series is being developed for HBO Max.

A Mad Max TV Series Could Be On The Way

The origins of these rumors actually date back years. During the development of Fury Road and Furiosa, a video game called The Wasteland was conceived. However, when the project was canceled, the resulting story was later developed into a novella and a film script. Now, the plan is to adapt this script into a series. The series will focus on characters hinted at but not fully explored in the films and will shed light on some of the mysterious scenes in Fury Road’s opening.

George Miller’s commitment to the Mad Max universe is well-known. The director had wanted to develop a TV series since the 1980s, but for various reasons, it never materialized. While plans for a sixth film were hampered by Furiosa’s box office performance, this series rumor suggests the series could continue on a different track.

While no official announcement has been made yet, “The Wasteland” could be a long-awaited return for Mad Max fans if it materializes. With its dystopian atmosphere, action-packed scenes, and the wild energy of the desert, this project seems poised to take the series to a whole new level on television.
