A New System Awaits EA Sports FC 25 Players

With FC 25, EA Sports is making a first for the series by offering players a paid battle pass for the first time. Previously limited to free versions, this system can be purchased for 500,000 in-game UT Coins or 1,000 FC Points, which is around £9. This new season system aims to both reward progress in the game and offer nostalgia with retro cosmetic items. However, the special Franck Ribery card at the center of the system has sparked a heated debate within the community.

EA Sports FC 25’s Premium Battle Pass Reactions Mixed

The Premium Battle Pass, which was released on April 24, consists of 40 tiers in total and offers a variety of rewards. These rewards include tradable packs, season point boosts, development items and retro-themed cosmetics. However, the real eye-catcher is the 96-rated Immortal Icon Franck Ribery card, known for his career with Bayern Munich. This card is only given to players who complete the paid battle pass.

Although EA states that this system aims to improve the player experience, reactions are divided, especially on social media. Some argue that the value of the Ribery card and the total amount of earnable content cover the cost of the battle pass. In particular, the coin return that comes with tradeable packs balances the system according to some players. On the other hand, the fact that a special player card that can only be obtained with a paid pass is behind a “paywall” is considered “greedy” by a significant part of the community.

Some users state that this situation aggravates the already expensive structure of Ultimate Team. The comments “If it was SBC, everyone would be happy to spend 500k” also indicate that the system is not about reaction but about the presentation style. EA states that the system will not change in its current state, but that they are open to player feedback. Feedback is collected through EA Sports’ official Discord channel and direct feedback portal.

On the other hand, EA announced that it is planning some innovations for the Switch 2 version. It was stated that the Switch 2 versions of FC 25 and Madden NFL will offer content as equivalent as possible to other consoles. While all these innovations signal that the EA Sports FC brand is evolving in a new direction, it will become clear over time how these changes will be received by the player.
