A Paladin Class Might Be Coming to Diablo 4
Diablo 4 has recently been back in the news with a striking claim. An internal version named “2.5.Xpaladin.67961” detected on Blizzard’s servers has raised the possibility that the Paladin class could be added to the game. This discovery was first revealed by DiabloNext and quickly garnered widespread attention in the community. The “2.5” in the name appears to align with the patch number corresponding to Season 11 of Diablo 4, according to the current schedule.
Paladin Possibility Strengthens for Diablo 4
Blizzard’s use of the codename “Fenris” in previous Diablo 4 releases has made the appearance of the name “Paladin” this time even more striking. While some players suggest this could simply be a test or codename, anticipation is growing in the community. It’s thought that the patch, while not fully introducing the Paladin class, may contain clues about the testing process.
The Paladin is one of Diablo 2’s original characters and, as one of two classes not yet included in Diablo 4, is the most requested option within the community. Players are particularly eager to see this character appear in the next major expansion. Blizzard’s planned expansion for 2026 makes this expectation even more significant.
The rumors have been fueled by the fact that Blizzard has invited Diablo content creators to special events in recent weeks. While some creators are reportedly testing new features themselves, it’s unclear whether this is related to the Paladin.
Significant changes are underway at Blizzard. Rod Fergusson, the head of the Diablo series, has stepped down, and community communication methods have also been altered. Furthermore, the confirmation of Diablo 4’s release in China and the sharing of special content hints for Diablo 2’s 25th anniversary indicate that the studio is entering a busy period.
