Age Verification Will Be Mandatory for GTA Online
The era of age verification in GTA Online may be beginning. According to Tez2, one of the most reliable leakers in the industry, Rockstar Games plans to soon implement age verification measures that vary by region. Age verification will be required at access points and certain social features of the game. This development aligns with the increasing security pressures on digital platforms in recent years.
Countdown Begins for GTA Online Age Verification
GTA Online has been considered an adult game for years due to its high levels of violence, crime, and permissiveness. However, it has long been known that players access the game beyond its age limits. Now, Rockstar is about to take more concrete action.
The leaked lines of code contain numerous phrases under the heading “Age Assurance.” Phrases like “Age Assurance Required” and “Access Denied” suggest that the new security layer could block access to some content. This suggests that social features and messaging systems, such as Snapmatic, could be restricted by age checks.
The system is expected to be rolled out first in the UK. However, according to Tez2’s comments, this change could eventually spread to other regions, including the US. Some users even note that YouTube has implemented a similar age check system in the US, suggesting that GTA Online will follow suit.
While Rockstar has not yet made an official announcement, the implementation of such a system could usher in a new era in the gaming world. The aim is to provide a more controlled experience, particularly for underage players. It’s also being discussed that these steps, taken to make access to games more secure, could be a preparation for GTA 6.
