Thanks to Steam offering eye watering discounts on a wide range of titles regularly, it has over time habituated users to splurge money and grow their game library during its various sale events, different versions of which take place throughout the year. As a consequence, the highly popular Valve owned platform has become as synonymous with game sales as it has become synonymous with PC gaming. Recently, it shared fresh information about the sales that are in place for the second half of 2025, after previously revealing discount events for the first half of the year back in July 2024.
Valve announced its full slate of themed sales fests coming to Steam in 2025, ranging from the major seasonal ones to the more frequent promotions that bring price drops for different kinds of Steam titles each time.

In recent months, Valve has made certain moves related to Steam that have helped win over the gaming community. These decisions have ranged from incorporating useful new features into the client to tweaking developer documentation in favor of an optimal user experience. In November 2024, it rolled out a built-in gameplay recording facility for the client, allowing Steam users to conveniently save their in game moments without relying on any third-party app. Most recently, the team behind the digital storefront explicitly banned forced ads in one of its documents meant for game developers.
As Valve continues to improve the platform with added features and more player first changes, Steam’s userbase also keeps hitting unprecedented strides. Over the past year, it has reached a record number of concurrent players on multiple occasions, having crossed 39.3 million concurrent users in January 2025.
