AMD RX 9070 XT Benchmark Results Head to Head with RTX 4070

Leaked AMD RX 9070 XT test results revealed the card’s performance. In synthetic tests conducted via Geekbench, the RX 9070 XT was found to perform on par with the NVIDIA RTX 4070. However, it was stated that the RX 9070 XT’s performance fell behind the top-tier RX 7900 XTX card. This may cause AMD to re-evaluate expectations regarding its RDNA 4 architecture.

AMD RX 9070 XT Performance Details

In tests, the RX 9070 XT scored 177,395 points on the Vulkan API and 179,178 points in the OpenCL tests. These results of the card are almost at the same level as the RTX 4070. However, when compared to the NVIDIA RTX 5070 Ti, the RX 9070 XT was seen to perform 22% lower. Tests have also confirmed that the RX 9070 XT offers 28% higher performance than the previous generation RX 7800 XT.

The RX 9070 XT has 16 GB of VRAM and comes with 64 CUs (Compute Units). The lower model of the card, the RX 9070, is equipped with 56 CUs. Both cards are based on the RDNA 4 architecture and include AMD’s next-generation graphics technologies. However, it should be noted that these leaked results are only obtained from synthetic tests and may not fully reflect real-world performance.

The AMD RX 9070 XT’s head-to-head performance with the RTX 4070 shows that pricing will shape the competition. It is curious what kind of pricing policy AMD will follow compared to NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 Super and RTX 5070 Ti models. It is stated that AMD is targeting mid-to-upper segment users with the RX 9070 XT.

AMD’s official announcement regarding the RX 9070 XT will take place on February 28. This announcement is expected to include clearer information about the card’s price and real-world performance. Leaked benchmarks suggest that the RX 9070 XT could be a strong alternative to NVIDIA. However, the final assessment will be made after real-world testing and pricing.
