America Blocked Marvel Snap
The popular digital card game Marvel Snap was unexpectedly removed from app stores in the US and has become unplayable. It was announced that the decision taken by the US due to national security concerns affected the game because the developer of the game, Nuverse, is owned by China-based ByteDance, which also owns TikTok. When Marvel Snap users open the game, they are greeted with a notification: “Marvel Snap is no longer available due to a law that has been enacted in the US. We are working to restore our service.”
Why Was Marvel Snap Banned?
The main reason Marvel Snap was banned is the decisions taken by the US government against ByteDance. The US gave ByteDance an ultimatum to sell its assets to American companies, claiming that TikTok and other ByteDance apps posed national security risks. However, when ByteDance did not comply with this demand, TikTok and Marvel Snap were blocked in the US.
Marvel Snap quickly gained a large user base, especially with its fast and fun gameplay. The game, which allowed users to engage in strategic battles with digital cards featuring their favorite Marvel heroes, was quite popular on mobile and PC platforms. However, despite its high popularity, the ban in the US has made the game’s future uncertain.
It is stated that Marvel Snap’s ban may be temporary. It is thought that the game can be reopened if ByteDance reaches an agreement with the US government. It has been reported that ByteDance is holding talks with new President Donald Trump to resolve the TikTok ban and that a solution is being sought in the short term.
