Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ Budget Is Jaw-Dropping
In recent years, budgets for “AAA” productions have been steadily increasing in the gaming world, and Assassin’s Creed Shadows is one of the most striking examples. This massive project, which Ubisoft has been developing for a long time, attracted the attention of millions of gamers even before its release. Now, the game’s official budget has been revealed, and the sheer size of the figure has stunned not only gaming enthusiasts but the entire industry.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Leads the AAA Budget Race
According to statements made by Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot at the latest investor meeting, the total development, production, marketing, and distribution costs for Assassin’s Creed Shadows exceeded €100 million. While Guillemot declined to share the exact figures, he made it clear that this is one of the largest projects the company has ever undertaken. He also stated that a significant investment was made in the game engine used to power the game.
This statement has sparked new discussions about the budget levels video games have reached recently. The fact that some productions are costing between $300 and $400 million demonstrates the level of competition in the industry. Assassin’s Creed Shadows has earned a significant place in this landscape.
Meanwhile, Star Wars Outlaws, another title for which Ubisoft had high hopes, fell short of expectations. Guillemot stated that the game failed to reach its desired sales due to a generally weak launch for the brand and a lack of polish at launch.
However, the company has taken significant steps to rectify this situation. Post-launch updates have addressed Star Wars Outlaws’ bugs and improved performance. Ubisoft stated that development is still ongoing as it prepares to relaunch the game on next-generation consoles.
