Assassin’s Creed Shadows Could be Getting Multiplayer
According to the datamined information from game files, Assassin’s Creed Shadows might be getting multiplayer feature.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Multiplayer Feature
Released in March 2025, Assassin’s Creed Shadows takes the long-running franchise to feudal Japan by following the intertwined stories of Naoe and Yasuke. Both characters have a different playstyle, with Naoe relying more on stealth and Yasuke on his brute force. Assassin’s Creed Shadows saw over a million players on release day, with fans praising its focus on stealth and exploration compared to previous installments in the series. Ubisoft recently teased that a major announcement for Assassin’s Creed Shadows would be revealed on April 30, and rumors have begun to grow regarding the game’s upcoming content.
Recent evidence from data miners points to the possibility of multiplayer functionality being added to Assassin’s Creed Shadows. A modder known as Sliderv2 found mentions of “multiplayer,” “PvP,” and “PvP maps” in the game’s files, hinting at the return of multiplayer in the Assassin’s Creed series. While this datamined information might just be the result of tests made during Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ development, it could also mean that players may soon be able to team up to complete missions together or fight against other players online in PvP matches.
If Assassin’s Creed Shadows does reintroduce multiplayer, it would mark the first return of this feature in nearly a decade. The franchise last supported multiplayer in Assassin’s Creed Unity, which allowed up to 4 players to engage in co-op missions. The last time players were able to fight against each other was in Assassin’s Creed Black Flag, which boasted dedicated PvP modes. While these features were popular among players, they were phased out in later titles that focused only on the solo experience.
