Assassin’s Creed Shadows Will Become Freer

Ubisoft’s highly anticipated new game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, will offer players a freer exploration experience by bringing innovations to the series’ classic game mechanics. Scheduled to be released on March 20, 2025, the game will encourage players to explore the world in their own way by reducing the number of icons and signs that provide excessive guidance on the map. With this new approach, Ubisoft aims to make exploring in the open world a reward.

Fewer Map Icons, More Freedom in Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Ubisoft has announced significant changes to the exploration system of Assassin’s Creed Shadows. Players will now only be able to see area names and some vague clues on the map at the beginning. They will need to explore areas and local areas to learn more. Players will be able to learn about quest locations and important points by using their spies or interacting with NPCs.

The game’s iconic sync points are also being revamped with this new system. Instead of filling a large area with icons, sync points will now only display important points, which players can manually mark. Additionally, instead of the classic eagle assist, players will have to observe the environment and manually mark enemies and valuables.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows also introduces new tools to ease players’ exploration experience. Safe houses, called “Kakurega,” provide players with fast travel points, while also allowing them to manage their inventory, replenish supplies, and organize their allies. A new tool called Pathfinder helps players determine the fastest route by planning shortcuts and obstacles in advance.

With these innovations, Ubisoft aims to encourage players to participate more actively in the open world. Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which will be released on March 20, will offer players a more personal adventure by taking a fresh approach to the series’ familiar mechanics.
