Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game Announced

Nickelodeon’s legendary series Avatar: The Last Airbender returns after years away with a brand new genre. Paramount and Gameplay Group have announced the first fighting game in the series: Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game. Featuring beloved characters like Aang, Zuko, Katara, and Toph, this game stands out with its entirely hand-drawn 2D visuals. The game is scheduled to launch on all major platforms in summer 2026.

The Power of the Elements Returns with Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game

Developer Gameplay Group, previously known for its project “Them’s Fighting Herds,” is now bringing that same energy to the Avatar universe. The game’s trailer showcases fight scenes featuring characters like Aang, Zuko, Azula, Toph, Sokka, and even Korra. Initially, there will be 12 playable characters, but the producers confirmed that new fighters will be added each season, demonstrating a long-term support plan for the game.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game won’t just be a classic fighting game. It will feature an original story mode, fast-paced movement-based gameplay, and cross-platform support. The development team also promises seamless online combat with a robust netcode infrastructure. These features have been among the most requested features in the fighting game community in recent years.

The game’s visual style resembles classic 2D fighting games, but it also highlights the unique fighting techniques based on the elements of the Avatar universe. Air, fire, water, and earthbending styles will provide each character with a unique strategy. Furthermore, brief scenes in the trailer reveal that players will be able to utilize environmental interactions—meaning that fights won’t just be in the arena but will also be shaped by the forces of nature.

Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam). The game’s Steam page is already live, and players can add it to their wishlists. This long-awaited game for Avatar fans is finally coming to life. It looks like the elements will converge again in the summer of 2026 — and this time, in the arena!
