Baldur’s Gate 3 Gives Full Support to Modders

Swen Vincke, the name behind Baldur’s Gate 3, has taken an open stance on the subject of modding, which is often discussed in the gaming industry. Vincke emphasized that mods extend the life of games, and stated that these efforts should be supported rather than hindered. The steps taken by Larian Studios in this regard were welcomed positively by the gaming community.

Baldur’s Gate 3 Opens the Door to Mods

Swen Vincke expressed that they appreciate the passion that mod developers have for games. According to him, these efforts should be applauded, not punished. Larian Studios put this perspective into practice in Baldur’s Gate 3, offering official mod support. Thanks to this, everyone, including console players, can access content prepared by the community.

Thanks to the mod tools that came to Baldur’s Gate 3, new projects have begun to emerge in the gaming world. One of these is Path to Menzoberranzan, which is being prepared by hundreds of developers. Instead of banning these projects, Larian supports them by highlighting them. This attitude seems to contribute to the game’s long-term relevance.

Contrary to the strict attitudes of large companies towards mods, Vincke argues that such work contributes to brand value. “These people work with the love they feel for your game. The easiest solution is to give them a license and let them continue on their way,” he says, suggesting a more constructive approach.

Although Baldur’s Gate 3 is not currently on Larian’s active development list, it continues to live on with the content produced by the community. As in classic examples such as Skyrim and Doom, this approach will be decisive in the game’s longevity. Vincke’s attitude can also be an example for other giant companies that remain closed to mods in the gaming world.
