Baldur’s Gate 3 PS5 Pro Improvements

The PS5 Pro launched on November 7, allowing gamers to finally get their hands on the world’s most powerful console to date. Over 50 PS5 games have so far received a PS5 Pro upgrade to coincide with the launch of Sony’s formidable $700 machine. Fantastic games like Helldivers 2, Horizon Forbidden West, and God of War Ragnarok can run even more smoothly than ever before, enjoying shorter load times alongside unmatched visual fidelity through higher frame rates and advanced ray tracing.

Larian Studios has revealed the enchaments for Baldur’s Gate 3 PS5 Pro version. Changes to the game’s Quality and Performance modes now allow Baldur’s Gate 3 to run more smoothly at higher resolutions. Quality mode now runs at native 4K at 30fps, while Performance mode utilizes the new PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution upscaling technology to improve the resolution from 1440p to 2160p at 60fps. On paper, these settings put the PS5 Pro ahead of the Xbox Series X, which aims for 1440p / 30fps in Quality mode and 1080p / 60fps in Performance mode. Larian has promised crisper visuals and invited players to “tinker away in the settings to find the perfect array of pixels for you.”

IMPROVEMENTS

  • On PS5 Pro, Quality mode now runs at native 4K (2160p) 30fps.
  • On PS5 Pro, Performance mode will upscale from 1440p to 2160p 60fps, using PSSR
  • Split screen on the PS5 Pro will now offer either 30fps or 60fps depending on whether you’re using Quality or Performance mode.

CRASHES AND BLOCKERS

  • Fixed an issue on PS5 preventing you from downloading or subscribing to mods when loading into another player’s multiplayer game with mods enabled.

The upgrade has also tweaked Baldur’s Gate 3’s multiplayer experience. Split screen games will now run at 30fps in Quality mode or 60fps in Performance mode. This is a vast improvement over the standard PS5 version of the game, which was plagued with many framerate and performance issues at launch and often struggled to maintain anything close to 30fps, especially in the game’s densely populated third act. As well as these graphical and performance enhancements, Larian has implemented a minor bug fix to address an issue that prevented players from subscribing to mods when loading into another player’s modded multiplayer game. This change will help fans to fully enjoy the best mods that Baldur’s Gate 3 has to offer.
