First released for PC in August 2023, the newest RPG from Larian Studios made its way to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S soon after. Since its release, Baldur’s Gate 3 has continued to win awards, snagging multiple Game of the Year accolades and countless other commendations for its writing, storytelling, and design. Selling over 10 million copies to date, the title far surpassed the studio’s expectations, receiving universal acclaim from players and critics alike. Now, fans of the game may have a new reason to start up another playthrough.

Twitter user Zuby Tech spotted the ‘PS5 Pro Enhanced’ tag on the PlayStation Store’s Baldur’s Gate 3 page (as reported by PSU). While Larian Studios has yet to provide any details about the incoming upgrade, many fans believe that performance issues found during the title’s latter half will be addressed, while the game’s graphics may also see some improvements. Over 80 games will be enhanced for the PlayStation 5 Pro at launch, 30 more than Sony initially promised.

The PlayStation 5 Pro will feature an upgraded GPU, advanced ray tracing capabilities, and AI-driven upscaling to support higher fidelity graphics and smoother frame rates. Along with PS5 Pro Enhanced titles, the system will also support PS5 Pro Game Boost, stabilizing and improving the performance of over 8,500 backward compatible PS4 games. Notably, gameplay will be rendered up to 45% faster when compared to the standard PS5 thanks to the console’s improved GPU, promising to provide a smoother experience for players.

While more and more console gamers are getting excited about the release of the PlayStation 5 Pro, the system’s detractors remain frustrated by its $700 price tag and lack of a disc drive. The system will also not include any exclusive titles, though the promise of improved performance for so many beloved titles may eventually win over more Sony supporters.
