Batman 2’s Script Completed
The long-standing rumors and delays regarding Batman 2 have finally come to an end with a development confirmed by director Matt Reeves. The script for the anticipated sequel has been completed and preparations for the project have officially begun.
Batman 2’s Script Process Has Ended
Matt Reeves confirmed on social media that the script for Batman 2 has finally been completed. Mattson Tomlin, who contributed to the first film, is now officially on the scriptwriting team. Reeves’ statement is also a direct response to the rumors of cancellations and health problems that have been circulating in Hollywood circles in recent months.
With the completion of the script, the production process is planned to begin in the last quarter of this year, between October and December 2025. The release date, which was initially announced as October 2, 2026, has also been postponed by one year. According to the new calendar, the film will be in theaters on October 1, 2027. James Gunn also announced that he expected the script in June, which shows that Reeves is working hard until the delivery date.
Although no official details have been shared about the story of the film, it is certain that Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne. Zoë Kravitz (Selina Kyle), Paul Dano (Riddler), Jeffrey Wright (Commissioner Gordon), Andy Serkis (Alfred) and Colin Farrell (Penguin), who were in the first film, are also expected to return. There is also a strong possibility that Barry Keoghan will take on a more prominent role as the Joker.
Matt Reeves aims to maintain the dark, psychological and noir-heavy tone of the first production in the new film. With this completed script, fans are now eagerly waiting for the production phase to begin and more details to emerge.
