Battlefield 6 Overtakes Call of Duty on Steam
Battlefield 6 has finally arrived and has exceeded expectations. The DICE-produced masterpiece has surpassed Call of Duty’s all-time record by reaching over 704,000 concurrent players on Steam in the first hours of its release. Just hours after the game’s official launch, the number continues to rise with each iteration.
Battlefield 6 Exceeds 700,000 Players at Launch
According to SteamDB data, Battlefield 6 reached 704,005 concurrent players within the first hour of its release. This number surpasses Call of Duty’s record of 491,670, making history on the platform. And that’s just the first day of the launch; player numbers are expected to rise even further as the weekend approaches.
This success far surpasses the game’s peak of 521,000 during its open beta. During the beta, players were able to test the game on smaller maps and with limited features, but with the release of the full version, the massive battlefields, wide range of vehicles, and destructible environments have rekindled player interest.
Battlefield 6 returns to the series’ roots, once again emphasizing the concept of all-out war. In this new installment, where infantry, tanks, aircraft, and drones face off, players experience smoother movement and engagement thanks to the Kinesthetic Combat System. Furthermore, an extensive story mode, various multiplayer maps, Portal mode, and the upcoming battle royale option further enrich the game’s content.
The DICE team also made it clear that AI generation is not used in the game. Players have already begun creating their own maps thanks to Portal mode—some fans have even built Star Wars ships and Call of Duty maps. It seems that Battlefield 6 has captured not only the opponents’ imagination but also the players’ imagination.
