Battlefield 6 Story Might Be Shorter Than Expected
The complete removal of single-player mode from Battlefield 2042 disappointed fans of the series, and many players were hoping for a strong story to return with Battlefield 6. However, the information coming in suggests that these expectations may be in vain.
Battlefield 6 Story Could Be Alarmingly Short
According to a report published by Ars Technica, Battlefield 6’s single-player campaign is planned to be only six hours long. Furthermore, the development team has stated that this time period could be even shorter. The game’s story mode is being handled by EA Motive, but studios like Criterion and DICE are also supporting the process.
As of May 2025, it was reported that only the story mode of the game had not passed the quality control phase called “gate three”. One developer stated that there were still many deficiencies in this section and that it was very difficult to catch up.
The report states that the story mode was the last completed part of the development and that it would be unrealistic to release it in this state. It seems difficult to offer it to players without a major patch or early access on the day of release.
Another possibility is that some parts of the story mode will be removed completely. In this way, the single-player mode will be tried to be ready for the game. The development team plans to work intensively throughout the summer to close the deficiencies. However, this situation greatly complicates the players’ expectations of a quality and satisfying Battlefield story.
This news may be disappointing for fans of the series, who have been longing for a single-player mode since Battlefield 5, which was released in 2018. How the developers progress during the summer will determine the future of this mode.
