Battlefront 3: Old Teams Could Reassemble

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 (2017) is experiencing its second spring on Steam, reaching the highest player counts of recent years. This rebirth has brought the big question on fans’ minds back to the agenda: Will Battlefront 3 be coming? While players are waiting for a clear answer from EA, statements from former developers have increased the excitement even more.

Hope for a Return to Battlefront 3 is Growing

While interest in Battlefront 2 has increased again due to current Star Wars content such as the second season of the Andor series, calls for Battlefront 3 have increased on social media. The most striking post among players was the post by Muhanned Ben Amor, the actor who plays the character Wilmon in the Andor series. Ben Amor stated that he spent 469 hours on Battlefront 2 and said, “Star Wars should give us Battlefront 3 now.”

These requests were not limited to the gaming community. In a humorous thread on Reddit, former EA employee Mats Helge Holm announced that he was ready to make Battlefront 3. Holm served as a quality control analyst on Battlefront 2 and an associate producer on Celebration Edition. “Me and a few other people from the old team are eager to get back together,” Holm said.

DICE, which developed Battlefront 2, went through a difficult period after ending content support for the game in 2019 and the failure of Battlefield 2042. The development team is now largely under the supervision of Ripple Effect Studios and is focused on the development of Battlefield 6. Therefore, it seems difficult for DICE to get approval from EA for a risky project like Battlefront 3 at this stage.

However, the revival of the Star Wars brand and the return of Battlefront 2 to the agenda could affect EA’s decisions. The willingness of the series’ veteran developers to reunite is a promising development for fans, and while there’s no official announcement yet, the potential return of Battlefront 3 is becoming more and more of a reality.
