Borderlands 4 Issues on Consoles Too
The long-awaited Borderlands 4 generated considerable excitement upon its release, but performance issues quickly became a major concern. It turns out that the issues initially reported on the PC version are actually occurring on consoles as well. This has caused significant disappointment among players experiencing the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Borderlands 4 Console Version Performance Issues
Since the game’s release, many console players have reported relatively good performance in the first few hours after launch, but then noticeable drops in performance over time. This is believed to be due to a classic memory leak problem. Frame rates are reported to drop significantly, especially during extended sessions.
Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford confirmed the issue on social media, confirming that this is a known issue. He also added that the development team is actively working to fix the bug and plans to release a patch shortly. However, the only workaround offered to players in the meantime is to close and reopen the game every few hours.
This has caused significant disappointment among console players, as many had hoped the optimization issues experienced on PC wouldn’t be seen on consoles. Players, expecting more stable performance due to consoles’ stable hardware, have expressed their frustration with this issue on forums and social media platforms.
While memory leaks were thought to be a thing of the past in the gaming world, they have recently resurfaced in some games. For example, the recently released Oblivion Remastered also reported a similar issue. It remains unclear whether this issue in Borderlands 4 stems from Unreal Engine 5 or a specific in-game bug.
