Call of Duty Players Being Banned for Boosting
Some Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops 6 players are reporting being banned for using a method to quickly increase their levels in Plunder mode. This method, in which players earn XP without being active in-game, is now considered “boosting” by Activision and is subject to severe penalties.
Central Crackdown on Boosters in Call of Duty
Warzone’s Plunder mode, unlike classic battle royale, offers players quick matches and unlimited respawns. Players start with their equipment, the map doesn’t shrink, and the goal is to quickly collect a large amount of money. This relaxed structure makes Plunder an attractive option for those looking to upgrade weapons and advance their Battle Pass. However, when some players used the mode to simply accumulate XP by remaining AFK without actually playing the game, Activision took action.
TheGhostOfHope, known for his reliable Call of Duty leaks, reported that many players were permanently banned for abusing the system to level up by remaining AFK in Plunder. It was emphasized that this is now considered “boosting,” and that players risk losing their accounts. Earning XP simply by participating in the game without actually fighting has particularly caught the company’s attention.
LastChanceFPS, a Warzone streamer, stated that his account was permanently banned and that his appeal was rejected. Similarly, another player, Adam Wotherspoon, stated that he believes his backup account was banned solely for remaining AFK in Plunder. Wotherspoon similarly questions whether players who remain AFK in Zombies mode will face the same consequences.
While it’s currently unclear exactly how many players were banned for this reason, it appears Activision is taking a harsher stance against such behavior. It’s clear that players trying to game the system simply to level up will no longer be ignored.
