Capcom Respond to Issues About Monster Hunter Wilds Performance

Monster Hunter Wilds Performance Issues

Monster Hunter Wilds was released for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on February 28. Its Steam user reviews are significantly worse than their PlayStation and Xbox Store counterparts, largely on account of seemingly widespread performance issues plaguing the PC version of the action RPG.

Capcom shared a response to the still-ongoing wave of performance-related complaints from PC users. The official MHStatusUpdates Twitter account advised Monster Hunter Wilds Steam players experiencing suboptimal performance to update their graphics drivers, turn off the game’s Windows compatibility mode, and then tweak their graphics settings, among several other steps.

Some outspoken fans appear especially frustrated that Capcom has yet to indicate any efforts to further optimize the PC version of Monster Hunter Wilds, arguing that the company’s offer of troubleshooting advice in response to performance complaints avoids admitting to what they see as obvious development missteps. The ongoing situation has already drawn comparisons to Dragon’s Dogma 2’s PC performance issues, which Capcom eventually alleviated but never truly eliminated.

In spite of some fan complaints, Monster Hunter Wilds has already established itself as the biggest PC launch in the history of the franchise, peaking at over 1.38 million concurrent Steam players on February 28. Nevertheless, its 31,000-plus Steam user reviews are currently classified as “Mixed,” largely on account of the game’s PC performance.
