Chrono Odyssey to Arrive Later Than Expected
The negative feedback received after Chrono Odyssey‘s first beta test led to serious decisions about the game’s future. Criticized for its similarities to New World, the game has now been quietly postponed. According to a report from the publisher, it appears players will be entering this universe a year later.
Chrono Odyssey Development Process Undergoing a Complete Overhaul
Chrono Odyssey, originally scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of 2025, has been postponed to the fourth quarter of 2026 following the official investor presentation. A financial report published by Kakao Games has pushed the game’s release schedule forward by a year. While this information has not yet been publicly announced, the silence within the development team has given way to a deep restructuring.
After the first beta, the game was deemed “incomplete,” “rough,” and “similar to other games,” prompting the Chrono Studio CEO to take responsibility. The CEO, who stated that he personally followed all the criticisms, announced that almost every aspect of the game, from the combat systems to the sound design, would be reworked. The similarity to Amazon’s New World, in particular, had caused unease among players.
While the postponement decision wasn’t surprising, it was generally well-received by players. Many users on social media commented, “This game deserves this delay,” indicating that waiting a little longer to see a quality production was acceptable. This has also restored confidence in the development team.
Chrono Odyssey continues to be developed for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game is planned to be built on a more solid foundation through various betas until 2026. While no official announcement has been made yet, a more streamlined game is expected to be released at the end of this lengthy development period.
