Ciri’s Powers Rebalanced in The Witcher 4

CD Projekt Red has seriously balanced the main character Ciri’s teleportation powers in time and space, which were fully revealed in the previous game, in The Witcher 4. The producers stated that this change will be told in a way that is compatible with the game’s story. Ciri, who became quite powerful at the end of The Witcher 3, will face players with different magic abilities and more agile fighting mechanics in the new game.

Why Were Ciri’s Powers Changed?

According to the production team, Ciri’s teleportation abilities in the previous game were removed or seriously weakened in The Witcher 4. CD Projekt Red producer Malgorzata Mitrega said, “We couldn’t continue from the point where Ciri became too powerful. So there will be an event in the story that explains this change.” Mitrega stated that this story is one of the cornerstones of the game and that players will find this balancing natural.

Instead of Ciri’s teleportation abilities, more powerful attack spells and agile fighting mechanics are planned. A new spell called “Bolt” seen in the trailer shows that Ciri’s magical abilities have reached an advanced level. In addition, Ciri’s fighting style, which makes you feel like she was trained by Geralt, is preserved.

Players will discover the story behind the change in Ciri’s powers in The Witcher 4. CD Projekt Red’s game director Sebastian Kalemba said that this change is due to an important event that affects the story. Kalemba added, “We worked hard to solve this problem. Players will clearly understand the reason for this change in the story.”

In the new game, Ciri will draw attention with her magic-based fighting abilities. More complex magic abilities that go beyond the signs Geralt used in The Witcher 3 will offer players a different gameplay. The game’s producers state that the story will deepen and Ciri’s character development will be at the forefront.
