Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Exceeds Expectations

For a first game from a newly established studio, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has had an impressive start. The game, which was released yesterday, has exceeded the 500,000 sales threshold on its first day, far exceeding the expectations of both Sandfall Interactive and publisher Kepler Interactive. What’s more, the game achieved this sales success despite being included in Game Pass on the first day and being released right after Oblivion Remastered.

Although Montpellier-based Sandfall Interactive has an experienced team that includes former Ubisoft developers, no one expected their first game to create such a buzz so quickly. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 quickly caught the attention of gamers with its different approach to the turn-based RPG genre and its impressive atmosphere. Although the game’s trailer sparked interest, many people were questioning how much of a buzz a new studio could create in the genre.

Sandfall Interactive shared the following on social media: “A milestone we reached much sooner than we imagined. Thank you all.” The post also included a painting of Gustave and Sophie, the game’s characters, dancing. This warm and sincere celebration also revealed the emotional bond the studio has established with its players.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which reached over 71 thousand simultaneous players on Steam, attracted great attention not only on PC but also on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms. Moreover, this sales figure excludes users who access the game through Game Pass. This shows that a significant purchase rate has been achieved on the PlayStation side as well.

The production, which also received full marks from critics, was praised for its innovative systems and art design. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which is currently accessible on PC, Xbox Series X/S, Game Pass and PlayStation 5, has definitely taken its place among the productions that should be checked out by both fans of the genre and gamers looking for innovation. This success of Sandfall Interactive has already created great confidence in the future of the studio.
