Multiplayer for Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel

Despite an incredibly rough launch, few games have become as impactful in recent gaming culture quite like Cyberpunk 2077. Originally announced over a decade ago, Cyberpunk 2077 became one of the most anticipated games in the lead-up to its release in 2020. Helmed by CD Projekt Red, the studio behind the world-renowned Witcher series, Cyberpunk 2077 was a bold and ambitious experiment for the company, this time planting players in a rich and fully realized first-person environment. The team has worked hard to make Cyberpunk 2077 the experience it originally envisioned, with many now praising it for its combat, complexity, and art design, with the game’s sequel potentially including the one thing it’s been missing: multiplayer.

A new job listing from CD Projekt Red shares a few details about what the studio currently needs, potentially confirming rumors Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel will include multiplayer. Pitching and developing engaging combat mechanics are a top priority for this “Senior Combat Designer” role, though the job listing gets even more interesting when taking a look at the “Nice to Have” section which lists experience with multiplayer games. It’s still way too early to tell whether multiplayer will be a focus of the next Cyberpunk game, though this new listing certainly indicates it is a very real possibility.

This is far from the only job listing posted by CD Projekt Red that has given some insight into the studio’s next project. According to another recently shared listing, Cyberpunk 2077’s sequel may include animals, with the team looking for someone with a strong understanding of not only human anatomy but animals as well. Project Orion is the code name for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel, though exact details are yet to be unveiled.

According to CD Projekt Red, the sequel to the original Cyberpunk 2077 is still in the planning stages of development and is most likely quite a few years away from launching. It’s unknown if Project Orion will be a direct sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 or something entirely new set in the same futuristic world.
